The Milestones standard approach

Below you will find a high level overview of my approach. This would apply to individuals and startups all the way up to large corporations.

Self-Assessment

Based on the Milestones “Self-Assessment” you submit, we will determine where your current processes stand

Problem Statements

From here “Problem Statements” will be drawn up to be reviewed with all stakeholders

Customized Strategy

Based on the finalized “Problem Statements” a customized IT Improvement Strategy will be created

Execution & Support

Once the IT Improvement Strategy is finalized, a roll out plan will be created. Further support will be provided as needed.

Further Insights

Over the years in my work across different organizations and industries, it has been apparent that while both large companies and small businesses may have the core IT functions in place, there is often limited critical self-evaluation conducted to address high level problems that can be both very costly and often much more challenging to fix if addressed too late.

Self-evaluation can oftentimes be difficult to do within the teams as colleagues may take the results personally, may be reluctant to change their ways of working or the team lead or manager attempting to conduct such an assessment may simply be far too busy in their day to day tasks to properly take this on.

Internal politics within companies can also hinder the adoption of new ways of working and processes. That is why it is often much more efficient for an independent party to support with the assessment and respective strategies & roll-out plans and work together with the teams to ensure maximum efficiency and success.

“There is often limited critical self-evaluation conducted to address high level problems”

I have worked across the IT spectrum from overall IT Strategic Management to Project Management, Test Management, Service Desk Management and alongside Infrastructure and Development / DevOps teams. The majority of my time however was spent building, leading and mentoring Quality & Test teams. This has forever shaped my approach and strategy and no matter what IT team I am working with, I always put Quality first!

What I have found working across various industries, is that different companies typically have different IT needs and therefore require IT solutions needing a customized and measurable approach rather than an out of the box approach.

“This has forever shaped my approach and strategy and no matter what IT team I am working with, I always put Quality first!”

The first step in addressing the problems you are facing in your IT department is conducting a free Self-Assessment. From here a report will be generated which I will analyze and an introductory call will be setup to discuss further. The focus from here will be breaking down problems into “Problem Statements” together with stakeholders. Once the problems are known, a high level strategy will be put in place followed by a roll out plan based on your needs.

If you would like to finally start tackling your IT problems but don’t know where to start, I encourage you to review the Customer Groups page and then fill out the Self-Assessment where you can highlight where you feel your IT processes stand.

“The first step in addressing the problems you are facing in your IT department is conducting a free Self-Assessment.”

My initial offering would first be defining a series of Problem Statements based on the Self-Assessment score.  From here, the Problem Statements would then be reviewed with the key stakeholders of all relevant departments (such as the Development Manager, Test Manager, Sr. Project Manager, Service Desk Manager etc.) to fine tune and finalize.

From here a proposal strategy would be written up followed by proposed roll out plans.  I would then work together with the teams to realize this strategy based on the roll out plans as desired.  If recruiting is needed to bring in the right personnel I would assist with this process as well.

Success for all teams can be measured by desired KPIs agreed on between all applicable stakeholders.

“Success for all teams can be measured by desired KPIs agreed on between all applicable stakeholders.”

For customers interested in personal development, a similar approach would be taken using Problem Statements which would then be tackled with you directly.

I look forward to hearing from you!
